Courtney Barnett, Jen Cloher and The Orbweavers Join Forces to Save Merri Creek’s Grasslands

The supergroup, coined ‘The Blue Banded Bee Band’, derives from the iconic head-banging insect that lives in the Merri grasslands, fondly known as the ‘Blue Banded Bee’. It pollinates flowers by banging its head in them 350 times per second, and its buzz pollination greatly contributes to the long-term survival of wildflowers in the grasslands.

The Friends of Merri Creek have created a Pozible campaign to preserve the grasslands, and the supergroup will perform to further boost the campaign. The Friends of Merri Creek will use the funds raised to connect existing patches so the rocker bee can easily travel between them and headbang, which will increase wildflower populations.

Pozible campaign rewards include limited tickets to the Blue Banded Bee gig, as well as rewards by local artists, campaign t-shirts and your own wildflower patch planted along the Merri Creek.
