triple j hottest 100

It's that time of year again, baby: the time when triple j listeners are given their chance to vote on the hottest songs of the year, culminating in an epic countdown to the coveted top spot.

This year the big countdown to the triple j Hottest 100 will be happening on Saturday, 28 January 2023 and there are heaps of venues all across town throwing listening parties. It’s one of the biggest radio events on the calendar – so grab your mates, grab a beer and head on down to see if your votes made the cut.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.

While it’s always a great excuse to party with your mates all day listening to music, it’s also a chance to reflect on the year that was and thank the artists that helped us get through it.

For those keen on a long weekend, you’ll also be able to tune in to hear the songs that almost made it on Friday, January 27 from midday as triple j counts down the Hottest 200 songs of 2022.

Corner Hotel

Throwing open their doors for a midday start, Richmond’s own Corner Hotel are celebrating the Hottest 100 in style on its sunny rooftop bar. Grab a frozen margarita to keep you cool through the heat of the moment or share a pint of beer with your mates as you join in the chorus of “should have been higher”. It’s first in best dressed, so get in early because they’re expected to fill up fast.

Northcote Social Club

Taking place right amongst their famous bandroom, Northcote Social Club will be airing aloud the entire countdown from start to finish on Saturday. Rumour has it that the wizards behind the bar are whipping up a secret recipe punch, so come for the bangers and stay for the various games and beanbags that they’ve set up. Oh yeah – they’re also going to have the Australian Open streaming live on the big screen, if you care about watching the tennis on this momentous music day.

Moon Dog World

Everyone’s favourite theme park cross brewery will be hosting a triple j Hottest 100 countdown next to the pool on Saturday. Full of vibes and booze, the space is probably going to fill up fast, so make sure that you and your mates get organised and book ahead.

The Espy

Head down to the bastion of the southside and find out where your votes came on the chart this year.  The Espy is reputed to be the longest continuously running live music venue in Australia and carries the torch of a prolific and storied history of live music – so what better place to head over to when the countdown kicks off from midday?

So, who do you think it’s gonna be? Spacey Jane? G-Flip? Teen Jesus? Flume? God forbid, The Wiggles again? I guess you’ll just have to find out at one of the parties taking place on Saturday, January 28.
