On October 5th Freya will be joined by Montreal transplant and powerhouse songwriter Meghan Maike. The Canadian via Oz maven is three singles deep into the forthcoming release of her debut LP Dead Horse Creek which will be released this October 27th on Cheersquad Records & Tapes. Maike arrives as a fully formed performer and will warm the already good vibes at Shotkickers with her authentic songcraft, powerful voice and inviting stage presence.

On October 12th young star Misty Harlowe will open for Freya with an intimate set putting on display the talent that has folks in the know betting on the next big country blues star. A natural storyteller with vivid tales of the Australian landscape, she charms with her sweet velvety voice, intricate guitar playing, and strong country melodies. Her recent debut single Old Omeo saw radio announcers reaching out readily to add Misty to their new roots music playlists.

October 19th the enigmatic K.Walsh will start things off in the right way. Recently relocating from his home north of the border in Newtown, NSW and landing in the fruitful inner north songwriting scene, Walsh announced his arrival with a rollicking set at the Gem some months back. A surprise packet, Walsh is setting about catching the locals up on what our Sydney cousins have known all along. Deftly balancing a line between twangin’ country and indie rock, K.Walsh is a name you’ll be seeing a lot of.

October 26th sees Al Matcott (solo) joining in for more good times. Matcott has folks talking about his muscular storytelling and delicate balance of the dark and the light across expertly written songs. His freshly released album Summer’s Coming (produced by Wade Kierghan and out on CR&T) showcases a blistering rhythms section and caterwauling guitars. It’s a journey of an album, one that takes Matcott’s songwriting to scorching new heights. It will be a rare treat to see this developing talent perform in solo mode, stripping his thrilling material to the bare bones where you will find they still shine incandescent.
