When your tagline is ‘the band that everyone loves to hate’ and your debut album acknowledges your future descent into irrelevance (I’m Not A Fan But The Kids Like It) you must surely know you’re living on borrowed time until your fan base finish puberty. It’s pretty puzzling then that their Australian tour takes place at predominantly overage venues, including Bang in Melbourne on October 29. If you’re looking to explore some more tasteful musical options this weekend may I suggest seeing King Cannons support The Living End at The Palace, perhaps Touche Amore and Title Fight tearing up Billboards or even just stopping by at the Gaso to see Stolen Youth and The Gun Runners. Monster Magnet’s Dopes To Infinity tour in which they were to play the entirety of their classic album, has been cancelled by promoter Live Nation. The statement reads, “A number of circumstances have conspired to form the perfect storm and we are disappointed that this planned tour has been a casualty”. Tickets are all refundable.
All those who were getting excited about enjoying Soundwave’s Counter Revolution in a garden setting at Myer Music Bowl might be disappointed to hear that the event has been moved across town to Festival Hall. The date remains Friday September 30 and the lineup remains unchanged. All tickets purchased are still valid for the new venue.
Thankfully, Japan’s most beloved punk rock trio Guitar Wolf are performing a handful of sideshows when they arrive in Australia at the end of this year. They’ll play to shows as part of the Tote’s 30th Anniversary Spectacular in Melbourne on December 2 and 4. Tickets are on sale this Friday.

Sad news emerged this week that Melbourne 5-piece State Of East London have called it quits after four years of gigging, and an EP and full length album under their belts. Word suggests there’ll be a final Australian tour before they split officially.
