US metal band Doom are dealing with some heavy shit (no pun intended) this week after at least three people were killed during a concert in Santiago Chile. News suggests the club was heavily oversold and when the crowd trying to enter the venue surged forward, an enclosure collapsed. Thankfully the club’s administrators have been taken into police custody and the band had little to no awareness of what happened. It does make you wonder about the relationship between bands and money-hungry promoters in countries where the dollar is speaking ever so much louder than sense. Is it okay to put blind faith in an international promoter to do their part, or are bands taking a deep breath, some time out and doing their due diligence in ensuring their promoter is trustworthy and not likely to put their fans at risk by overselling the shit outta their shows? Is it even possible for bands to have that much control over international performances in foreign markets? Ugh.

My Disco have scheduled some dates in Australia’s south this winter, including a spot at Hobart’s famed Dark MOFO Festival. The trio will return home to Australia (they currently live all over the world) to play The Toff In Town on June 7 in anticipation of the release of their fourth album.

Metal legends Thy Art Is Murder have signed with UNFD for the release of their new album Holy War in June. The band reportedly had a not so shiny experience with their previous album so joined forces with UNFD to prepare for the new effort, due for release on June 26.

Seether will come and pay us a visit in June to promote their sixth album Isolate and Medicate which is available now. Seether play Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on Saturday July 4 and VIP packages are available for uber fans out there.

The Cosmic Psychos are releasing a new album in June which is reason enough for some serious celebrations, but they’ve also gone and announced some tour dates with Dune Rats. This is going to be quite the debaucherous tour methinks. See them play together at Max Watts in Melbourne on June 13, or over at the Chelsea Heights Hotel on June 12.

The Peep Tempel will play some headlining shows after they won over some new fans supporting Mariachi El Bronx this month. See ‘em play Carol, Big Fish and the biggest belter of all time Gettin On By at Howler in Melbourne on May 23 with YIS and Pselodux. Tickets are available now.

Dangers are no strangers to AU shores. They’ve played some awesome DIY shows in the past and they’ll return for another lap this July, playing the Bendigo on July 10. Newcastle band Staunch will join them on all dates. Tickets are on sale now.

A massive Splendour In The Grass lineup dropped last week. There’s absolutely no shortage of reasons to book your tickets to Byron, but I can think of half a dozen must-sees in particular: Royal Blood, Death cab For Cutie, Dune Rats, The Smith Street Band, Bad//Dreems, Ecca Vandal and Earl Sweatshirt all seem to cement Splendour as the country’s biggest and best music festival.
