Naarm's favourite subversive cowboy, Cong Josie & The Crimes will be spreading cong fever to the Brunswick Ballroom on March 26.
Following the highly-acclaimed release of his debut LP, Cong, last year, Cong Josie and his band The Crimes are heading to Brunswick for one of their electric live shows on March 26.
Cong is one of the more interesting EBM records to come out of Australia in recent times, picking up nods from the likes of The Guardian and Triple R. He describes his music as speed n roll, it’s also noted as hyperreal world of romance, sleaze, smoke and gyrating hips – electronic stompers, post-punk swampers and Lynchian romance.

The project is the alter-ego of Nic Oogjes, known as the leader of legendary Melbourne collective NO ZU. Cong takes on a special resonance live with the help of collaborators like singers Cassandra Capri (Cassandra Kiely) and Mona Rêves (Simone Page-Jones), as well as Johnny Cayn (Cayn Borthwick) on sax and guitar.
Cong Josie & The Crimes will be joined by feminist bratwavin post-punkers Hearts and Rockets and dark-wave doomers, Ov Pain.
