Comedy in the Vines returns this October with wine aerobics and a DJ battle

Words by staff writer

Comedy in the Vines is back in the Yarra Valley across four days of stand-up, premium wine and live music.

The festival runs across four days at CherryHill Orchards in Coldstream, pairing stand-up from some of the country’s biggest comedians with Yarra Valley wine, live music and gourmet food. The main comedy days run 23 to 25 October, with 24 October delivering a full day on the outdoor stage topped by an exclusive set from UK comic George Lewis.

Set among the orchard’s spring blossoms, the format is built to roam rather than rush, letting groups drift between sets, tastings and food stalls with a glass in hand. Fellow UK acts Lloyd Langford and Kate Dolan round out the international contingent.

Proceedings open 22 October with a dinner at Jayden Ong Winery and Cellar Bar, built around a three-course menu with sparkling on arrival, from $140. General admission days follow across 23, 24 and 25 October, with weekend and VIP passes covering all three. Return bus transfers from the Melbourne CBD are available for each day.

The bill leans on a deep local roster including Lano and Woodley, Sammy J, Merrick Watts, Mel Buttle, Lizzy Hoo, Claire Hooper, Tom Ballard, Dave Hughes, Rhys Nicholson and Geraldine Hickey. Santo Cilauro hosts In Vino Veritas, Nikki Britton runs Wine Aerobics, and Merrick Watts leads a 5km Wine Run, alongside the inaugural Comedian DJ Battle.

Beyond the comedy, there are curated wine tastings, interactive masterclasses and cellar-door sessions with local winemakers, plus a run of boutique producers to work through between acts. New additions for 2026 include exclusive dining experiences, expanded wine programming and more interactive entertainment across the grounds.
