Colour are throwing their first ever 24-hour, two-level party

Melbourne's Colour Club are finally able to make the most of their 24-hour licence by throwing a huge bash with an expansive DJ lineup.

Welcome to the 24-hour pleasure dome. Whatever you thought of Yours & Mine, you have to admit the transition to Colour – brought to you by former Lounge owner Carlo Colosimo alongside Liam Alexander and Ben Rausa – came at pretty much the worst possible time.

If it wasn’t tough enough running a nightclub in Melbourne at the best of times, chuck in a pandemic and a location with little foot traffic and you have a recipe for disaster. All of this makes Colour’s survival, sticking to its guns throughout, all the more admirable. Colour’s a downstairs techno hotspot and a refreshing, bright-orange upstairs bandroom with a pokey little smokers in between. Its nearly 200-year-old Queensberry Street location, a former church and S&M club among other highlights, is now an absolute Melbourne rarity in boasting a 24-hour licence, so it’s brilliant to see the venue making the most of it and offering some marathon sprints for the city’s hardest revellers.

“Take the next week off… we’re finally dusting the cobwebs off the 24 hour licence,” the owners said. “It’s been too long since we did something stupid, so here we go again. Not since the halcyon days of the Lounge balcony, and Lucid 53 hour doinks, have we put our minds, bodies and spirits to the test like this. 24+ hours of madness, over two levels, for the first time ever at Colour. Game face on.”
