Coldplay announces second show after fans break records for presale tickets

Coldplay second show

The ultra-popular rock band has promised another Optus Arena event following overwhelming presale demand.

The presale for Coldplay’s November 18 in Perth, now closed, broke Ticketmaster’s record for the highest-ever online Australian ticket queue. 300,000 fans tried for their chance to secure tickets.

Now, Coldplay has taken to Twitter to confirm a second show in Perth on November 19 as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. General admission tickets to both Optus Arena shows are set to go on sale tomorrow (May 16) at 10am local time (which means noon over here in Melbourne).

There will be no presale options or codes required – buyers should simply head over to the Live Nation website and cross their fingers that it doesn’t crash due to too much traffic.

Local support has also been announced for the two massive events. Indie pop singer-songwriter Amy Shark will open on November 18 and multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana will play on November 19 show, with Aboriginal folk artist Thelma Plum playing at both.

There will also be a limited number of tickets put aside as Infinity Tickets for both Coldplay arena shows, costing only $40. The band is releasing these types of tickets for each Music of the Spheres event to help make them more accessible.

The Infinity Tickets, set to drop at a later date, must be purchased in sets of two that are seated next to each other, with a limit of two tickets per person.

Known for their universally-recognised music and immersive, multi-media live performances, Coldplay is sure to deliver an unforgettable evening when they make their way over to Perth this summer.
