Australia’s Monolith Festival has announced its return, bringing an unbeatable curation of international names and local favourites to venues around the country this November.

The single-stage prog festival will take place at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, Melbourne’s PICA, and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion.

The 2024 edition will feature Nyack, New York progressive rockers Coheed and Cambria, who are set to perform their 2005 classic Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV, Vol. 1 – From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness in full, one of the greatest – and perhaps most underrated – metal records of the decade.

Monolith Festival 2024 dates

  • Saturday 2 November | Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane
  • Saturday 9 November | PICA, Melbourne
  • Sunday 10 November | Hordern Pavilion, Sydney

Monolith festival lineup

  • Coheed and Cambria (performing Neverender set)
  • Periphery
  • Leprous
  • Intervals
  • Novelists
  • Silver Fang (AUS)

Coheed and Cambria’s performance will showcase their 2005 album Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV, Vol. 1 – From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness, a prime example of conceptual brilliance and musicality that has become a hallmark of the band’s style.

Joining Coheed and Cambria are Periphery, who will bring their critically acclaimed 2023 album Periphery V: Djent Is Not A Genre to the festival. Canadian instrumental prog group Intervals and Norwegian prog band Leprous, promoting their upcoming album Melodies of Atonement, will also be featured. French metalcore/prog group Novelists and Melbourne’s Silver Fang, appearing at Melbourne and Brisbane only, complete the lineup.

In addition to the music, Monolith Festival will offer workshops, panels, market stalls, and DJs to enhance the festival experience. A special Q&A panel titled Celebrating 20 Years of The Amory Wars: The Past, Present and Future with Claudio Sanchez will be held at each festival date. Guitar and drum workshops with Periphery’s Keyan and David Parkes are also scheduled.

Early bird presale begins Wednesday 17 July at 9 am, with general public tickets available from Friday 19 July at 9 am. Sign up here for presale.
