Coda Chroma will launch their fourth album LUMINOUS AS IT IS at Howler with a full band matinee show led by award-winning songwriter Kate Lucas, with support from special guest Georgia Fields.
LUMINOUS AS IT IS takes its name from a line in Mary Oliver’s poem “Summer Morning” and is a snapshot in time of Kate’s perpetual songwriting practice and her deep connection to nature. The album is steeped in themes of consumerism, environmentalism, friendship, and death, expressed through Coda Chroma’s signature poetic, abstract lens.
A companion piece to Coda Chroma’s 2023 LP release Dreamself, LUMINOUS AS IT IS features nylon string guitars, vintage synths, and compelling vocal melodies. Although the songs move through a range of musical genres including jazz, pop, and psychedelia this album is undeniably the most folky Coda record so far.
Rated in Top 5 albums of 2024 on Melbourne’s 3RRR FM, LUMINOUS AS IT IS has also been featured as album of the week and enjoyed heavy rotation across community and college radio in Australia and the U.S.
