Coburg Night Market Q&A: Crêpes for Change

crepesforchange1.jpg

Hey there. Who are we speaking with and what’ll you be serving up at 2015’s Coburg Night Market?

We’re Crêpes for Change: Australia’s first non-profit crêpe van that reinvests 100% of profits into eliminating youth homelessness in Australia. We serve delicious French crêpes, including all of the classics (Nutella, salted caramel, etc) as well as some of our ‘creations’ – including our famous Snickers crêpe. We also are sustainable in other ways: for instance, we only use biodegradable and recyclable packaging for our crepes.

How long have you been in the business?

We started with a crowd funding campaign about 10 months ago, then spent six months building the van and have been operating officially for just over two months now. We’re loving it.

What makes your product unique?

We’re a social enterprise food truck with an authentic and traditional French dessert, add some Melbourne flair and serve it up in a variety of ways that reflect our unique brand, identity and taste.

For those of us who are dirt poor, how much will it set us back?

Our basic sweet crêpes start at $6.50 and go up to $9 for our ‘fancier’ options.

If you were trapped on a desert island and had to eat one item from your menu for eternity, what would you pick?

You can’t go past the homemade salted caramel crêpes.

What makes the Coburg Night Market a cool place to try a variety of food?

The Coburg Night Market offers a fantastic variety of cuisines from around the world, in addition to a host of other summer entertainment. We’re really thrilled to be part of it – and even more thrilled at the prospect of sampling some of the best food around!

Crêpes for Change can be found at the Coburg Night Market, held every Friday in Bridges Reserve, Coburg until Friday December 18.
