City of Melbourne reveal groovy playlist curated by Northside Records’ Chris Gill, Miss Blanks and more

Miss Blanks

The perfect playlist for iso.

As part of City of Melbourne’s ongoing ‘Looking Out, Looking In’ Spotify playlist, the creative minds of Northside Records’ Chris Gill, Billy Davis, Miss Blanks, Emily Ulman, Lori and Chiara Kickdrum have come together to produce the fourth instalment in the series, which bears a ‘unified’ theme celebrating togetherness and community.

With Gill’s expertise steeped in funk and soul, Ulman in everything Melbourne, then Kickdrum bringing the beats alongside Miss Blanks’ hip hop leaning, a super-diverse list of names and genres are showcased. Then you’ve got jazz from Lori and the smooth neo-soul interests of Davis and there’s some serious talent represented.

The tracks on the playlist range from the Cookin’ On 3 Burners classic ‘This Girl’, to the sonic transcendent ‘Mwana’ from Sampa The Great, Alice Skye’s quintessential ‘Melbourne’, Kllo’s ‘Still Here’ and the beats of Sleep D with ‘Central’. That’s just the start.

“Music is instrumental to the culture, movements, and atmosphere of Melbourne – the diversity of music is synonymous with the multicultural landscape of the city,” Miss Blanks says about the playlist.

This volume comes as the fourth in the series, with the first three being curated by The Operatives’ Jerry Poon, Thando, and High Tension’s Karina Utomo respectively.
