No beating around the bush here, the participating artists are Hiromi Tango; Jessie Bullivant; Kiron Robinson; Steven Rhall; Willurai Kirkbright; Sanné Mestrom; Jamie Hall from The Mechanic’s Institute; Isobel Knowles and Van Sowerwine from Isobel and Van; Jason Maling and Martyn Coutts from Field Theory; Will Foster from A Centre for Everything and Timothy Moore from SIBLING.
In its first year, Public Art Melbourne Biennial Lab is an experimental temporary art project that will result in major new public art installations at the Queen Victoria Market (QVM), coinciding with the Melbourne Festival in October. Before that, though, the artists will developing their ideas over two weeks in June at QVM, which will be convened by Claire Doherty MBE, Director, Situations UK and Professor David Cross, Deakin University. Also in June, Doherty will also host a conversation about extraordinary encounters in public spaces at the Wheeler Centre.
