Chillin' in Banyule is back in its fourth year for an intimate series of gigs across Melbourne's northeast.

The Banyule City Council is bringing back this beloved live music event series for 2023, which promises to be an unforgettable experience for locals and visitors alike. Running from May 18 to June 4, the program is set to feature over 15 venues and eateries across the Banyule municipality, as well as an impressive line-up of 19 local solo musicians and bands performing at over 25 gigs.

  • Currently in its fourth iteration, Chillin’ in Banyule is set to illuminate Melbourne’s northeast from May 18 to June 4
  • Live music and events are set to take over the Banyule municipality – including Greensborough, Ivanhoe, Montmorency and Heidelberg
  • It will feature a lineup of 19 live acts across 25 gigs

The special Opening Night Event at the Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub (ILCH) theatrette on May 18 promises to be a highlight of the series. The Delvenes, a popular Melbourne and Banyule local band, will be performing live. Best of all – every booking for the opening night comes with with a free $20 Ivanhoe dining voucher, which can be used at any of the participating eateries.

All other gigs across the three week program are free and don’t need to be booked.

Chillin’ in Banyule lineup includes

Alcides Neto – Inspired by folk music from his home country, Alcides aims to present his perspective of Brazilian music, mixing traditional styles with Brazilian contemporary jazz.Alcides Neto

Ambiente – Ambiente (Pablo Naranjo) began playing guitar at the age of twelve and has studied in Latin America, UK and Australia with countless internationally renowned musicians. His unique compositions and arrangements for guitar have allowed to play at the most prestigious venues, festivals and ceremonies over the years.

Carl Pannuzzo – As a creator, interpreter and improviser, Carl is recognised as a sensitive, dynamic and fearless singer, a quickfire musical mind and affable and engaging stage presence. Carl enjoys being a messenger for the articulate truth of music and delivers it with a balance of respect and abandon.

Conte Milano – With a portable setup of synthesizers, electric guitars and vintage effect pedals, he explores a variety of styles from chillout to organic downtempo beats with jazzy guitars, warm analogue synths and lots of guitar solos.

Dean Wittmann-lamb – Inspired by the some of the great artists in The Rolling Stones, CCR & Tom Petty, Dean creates a feel of soulful chill vibes to a rock upbeat to get you dancing.

Gordon Lewis – The born and bred ‘Banyulite’ plays a mixture of golden oldies, current hits and his own originals. Armed with his soulful voice, guitar and looper, Gordon has the experience to suit many different environments, providing background music to upbeat dance songs.

Grand Baxter – Inspired by the highway ramble of Jackson Browne and the tormented whispers of Phoebe Bridgers, their music meets somewhere in the middle. With delicate words, familiar guitars and an intimacy true of their own style, Grand Baxters new music is given like a warm hug on a cold night.

Inferno Duet – Known for their ability to encourage involvement with the audience, Inferno specialise in live music entertainment music from all genres of Easy listening, 50’s & 60’s, Rock, Disco- 70’s & 80’s Classics, right through to the Top 40 Hits.

Jeremy Beggs – Jeremy Beggs is Western Victorian-based troubadour with Americana leanings. He is the heart-on-his-sleeve type songwriter, telling everyday stories from his perspective as a husband, father and teacher.

Jimmy Fong – A singer- songwriter and producer with 3 albums of his own originals, Jimmy also covers music from the 60s / 70s / and some current acoustic materials with just one acoustic guitar.

Katankin – Katankin is the solo moniker of indie-folk singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer Helen Catanchin. Formally trained with a Masters of Music Performance, and after many years as a jazz singer, Katankin was born from Helen’s desire to return to her singer-songwriter roots.

Luna the Moon – Luna the Moon is an all girl acoustic ukulele trio local to Banyule. They have a fun but laid back style, playing a mix of their original songs and all of their favourite covers like The Beatles, Elvis and ABBA. Prepare to sing, dance and be transported with these Ukulele vibes.

Mary Ann Van Der Horst – MARY ANN is a singer, songwriter from Melbourne. Her love of music can be traced back to her early years, as she has been in numerous musical events but the most remarkable of them all was her fun stint on the X Factor Australia.

Melanie Wason – Melanie is a versatile performer with extensive experience in weddings, corporate celebrations, private events and more. Using live looping technology and subtle vocal effects to enhance her performance, she fills the space with a rich, layered sound to engage her audience.

Ming Ming – Ming Ming is a DJ, producer and Hula Hoop artist with a passion for melodic techno and organic house music. Creating an atmosphere of joy and excitement on the dance floor, Ming Ming is blending electronic music with Afro and Latin rhythms, oriental melodies and heavy bass grooves.

Mirrored by Me – Sharon & Claudia are Mirrored by Me. They’re diverse and dedicated Their melodic improvisation & distinctive tones are sure to draw you in with every performance.

Phoebe Cara – Phoebe Cara is an experienced cover artist and takes great pride in choosing appropriate set lists for each seperate gig. Often leaning towards acoustic and chill covers of popular songs, Phoebe creates a serene atmosphere while still performing familiar songs.
