Nick Cave is immortalised in the new graphic novel Mercy on Me, by Reinhard Kleist.

“Reinhard Kleist, master graphic novelist and myth-maker has – yet again – blown apart the conventions of the graphic novel by concocting a terrifying conflation of Cave songs, biographical half-truths and complete fabulations and creating a complex, chilling and completely bizarre journey into Cave World,” said Nick Cave. “Closer to the truth than any biography, that’s for sure! But for the record, I never killed Elisa Day.”

Spanning 328 pages, the novel draws from characters found in Cave’s music and writing while exploring the artist’s own childhood, his time fronting The Birthday Party and working with The Bad Seeds, as well as the internal struggles he’s faced along the way.
