The Chapel Street Festival is making a long-awaited return on Sunday, 23 February 2025, marking the first time the beloved event will take place in 25 years.
Organisers expect approximately 100,000 people to gather along Chapel Street to celebrate one of Melbourne’s most iconic cultural precincts.
Kicking off with a teaser yesterday with a rooftop performance by singer Bonnie Anderson, the festival promises a day packed with activities and entertainment for all ages. Highlights will include live music, an extensive selection of food, and a vibrant lineup of art, fashion, and cultural experiences. Fans of automotive culture can also look forward to the Chap Laps Car Show, showcasing a variety of unique vehicles.

Singer Bonnie Anderson recently performed at the top of Chasers nightclub to officially announce the festival’s return. She expressed her excitement about being part of the event, saying it’s about more than just a celebration: “This festival is not just about having a big party. It is about bringing the eclectic, diverse and iconic Chapel Street community together to celebrate everything that makes Chapel Street so great.”
The festival will offer something for everyone, from kids’ zones and wellness activities to multicultural showcases. Organisers have hinted at additional announcements to come in the lead-up to the event.
Matt Lanigan, one of the driving forces behind the festival’s revival, was credited for his dedication to making the event a reality. Social media has already been abuzz with excitement.
