Following their mammoth performance at PICA, Caribou is back for a free encore.

In an unexpected gift to Australian fans, Caribou’s Dan Snaith has announced a series of free four-hour DJ sets across the east coast this weekend, following his successful national tour.

The pop-up performances will take place in Melbourne, Torquay, Sydney and Byron Bay, with no registration required. “You don’t need to sign up, just show up,” says Snaith, whose enthusiasm is palpable. “I’m playing long sets because I’ve got so much music I want to play for you.”

The announcement comes as Snaith wraps up his first Australian tour since 2022, concluding tonight at Fremantle Arts Centre – his first Western Australian performance in nearly a decade.

The tour, which kicked off at Lost Paradise festival, has seen him play headline shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. These shows have been showcasing material from his latest album Honey, released in October 2024.

The record marks a significant shift in Snaith’s artistic trajectory, melding his two musical personas – Caribou and Daphni – into one cohesive sound. The album has garnered widespread acclaim, with CLASH magazine calling it a “stellar addition to the discography.”

The free DJ sets will see Snaith sharing the decks with an impressive lineup of supporting acts. The tour begins at Torquay Hotel with Eddie Example, before moving to Melbourne’s Federation Square.

Sydney University’s Manning Open-Air will host Snaith alongside Harry Hayes, while the final show at Byron Bay’s Beach Hotel features a stellar supporting cast including Bradley Zero, DJ Moxies and Jono Ma.

These intimate DJ sets offer a rare opportunity to experience Snaith’s musical mastery up close. As an artist who has graced the stages of major festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury and Primavera Sound, and played at iconic venues including Fabric and Warehouse Project, these free shows represent a unique chance to catch one of electronic music’s most innovative artists in an unusually personal setting.
