Burn the Floor and First Nations star Mitch Tambo join for Indigenous-inspired ballroom dance

Burn the Floor
words by kaya martin

Bringing ballroom, Latin dance and Australia's Aboriginal culture together, Walanbaa Yulu-Gi will tour throughout Australia in winter 2023.

The legendary dance group Burn the Floor is set to join forces with rising Indigenous musician Mitch Tambo for a new performance that will tour the country in July 2023.

In celebration of Burn the Floor’s 25th year, the collaboration will draw inspiration from Indigenous culture and music, Australian rock classics, and the dance company’s unique fusion of ballroom and contemporary with a Latin twist.

They’ve completed 10 international tours to date, with another on the books for early 2023 before Walanbaa Yulu-Gi is set to start. They are a powerhouse in the cruise industry, having performed over 4000 shows for Norwegian Cruise Line since 2012.

Mitch Tambo is a Gamilaraay and Birri Gubba singer and musician who rose to fame after making it into the finals of the 2019 season of Australia’s Got Talent. His hit single, Walanbaa, is a celebration of his rich history and culture.
