Which homegrown Aussie talent should we be keeping our eyes out for? This year it’s exciting to have the James Southwell Band as part of our lineup. Lachy Doley Group is an exciting band that is making a big name for themselves too.
You are now in your 22nd year of the festival. What will be different about this year? We’ve remained small and intimate while introducing new acts and features every year. Apart from great music, punters will be invited to visit one of the original buses from Priscilla Queen of the Desert for a makeover complete with fishnet stockings and glam eyelashes.
Is there much involvement from the local community? The festival has been solely run and controlled by community members, all of who volunteer their time. The organisers make a point of enabling and encouraging other community organisations such as the CFA, football club and school to get involved.
Can folks bring the wee tackers to the festival? Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival is definitely family friendly. The big market with free music in the main street gardens includes a children’s section and is a great place for families to settle in for the day. The local hall on Saturday night becomes a family-friendly alternative to the hotel with great music and meals.
What’s the go on the food front? There’ll be something for everyone with food vans and local takeaway shops to choose from as well as sit-down meals at the Bruthen Inn Hotel, Bullant Brewery and Heritage Café.
