After its triumphant return in 2023, Sydney Road Street Party will roll out on Sunday March 3, prickling the shopping strip with performance, art, delicious delights, spectacle, wonder and probably a harpist on a grassy knoll… just because.

Estonian House, sitting proud and unmissable on Melville Road, will once again be a bastion for premium performances.  The utterly iconic YOTHU YINDI bring their boundary-breaking music to Brunswick on March 5. Sullen, shoegaze-y, utterly sensational North Carolina five piece Wednesday are confirmed to appear on March 6.

Iconic Zamibian Psych-rock band WITCH will fill the house on March 7. Gamelan DanAnda brings a family-friendly Balinese feast by way of Saudara Sound System w/ Komang, Joelistics and more on March 8. While on March 9 Naarm’s operators in the outsider underground – Crown Ruler, Slow Clap and Gut Health bring “Highly Contagious” a cutting-edge musical banquet from the vast corners of the global musical spectrum.

Over at Howler, MJ Lenderman and The Wind’s friendly, fuzzed out alt-country vignettes will soothe the soul on March 5.

The suburb’s best live music venues, bars, nooks, crannies and creative crevices are set to host music in all its conceivable forms. Jazzlab, Stay Gold, Howler, Brunswick Ballroom, The Retreat and more will bring a curated collection of performances to their stages. MzRizk takes over A1 Bakery and Brunswick Bowling Club gets in on the action.

The Australian Art Orchestra will explore the sonic potential of Coburg Town Hall, centering its famous organ in a series of commissioned works composed by AAO Artistic Director Aaron Choulai and Associate Sofia Carbonara. Simply, the SHUFFLE-PLAY program will be a fun and frankly, unmissable exploration of sound and space.

Blossom Rot Records, Bad Apples, Melbourne Electronic Sound Studios, MOM Gallery and Neurotiq Erotiq have all built their own epic events in this year’s lineup. You hear the phrase ‘something for everyone’ thrown around with reckless abandon but there’s a scant chance this collection of 60+ shows in 30+ venues will leave you wanting.

“Brunswick Music Festival is one of Australia’s premier annual music festivals, Merri-bek City Council Mayor Adam Pulford said.

“We are so excited to announce that Yothu Yindi will be headlining the Brunswick Music Festival this year, and we are lucky to have Brunswick’s iconic Estonian House as our major venue.

“This year we’re celebrating 36 years of the Brunswick Music Festival and its amazing history of music, culture, and community. We invite everyone, near and far, to join us at a gig, hang out at the Sydney Road Street Party and celebrate everything we love about Brunswick and our local Merri-bek music scene.”
