No phones, no substances, The Magic Garden in Brunswick East invites you to 'come as you are'

On the longest night of the year, Brunswick East is set to host a powerful, movement-based gathering for the Winter Solstice.

Held by The Magic Garden in collaboration with Kundalini Project, the Winter Solstice – Dance Celebration invites participants into a full-bodied ritual of release, reflection, and renewal.

Winter Solstice in Brunswick East

  • When: Saturday 21 June, 8pm – 10.30pm
  • Where: 49 Nicholson Street Brunswick East
  • Tickets: here

This is no ordinary dance party.

The Brunswick East event is rooted in the tradition of ecstatic dance; a phone-free, substance-free, no-talking movement experience, paired with guided breathwork and live performance.

It’s all designed to help attendees ground into the season, shed what no longer serves them, and make space for clarity and connection as the sun begins its return.

The evening opens with a complimentary ceremonial cacao offering, followed by a guided breathwork session with facilitator Chantelle, designed to help shift stagnant energy and awaken the nervous system.

Then, the dance floor opens, an expansive, judgement-free zone of freeform movement led by ecstatic dance DJ (TBA).

The Brunswick East space will be transformed with soft-coloured lighting, soul-stirring projections and a Martin Audio sound system, creating a multisensory environment that encourages embodiment and presence.

The night will also feature a live performance from multi-instrumentalist Amla and vocalist Leticia Keane, who will present a new single created in collaboration with Kundalini Project.

Following the dance, attendees will be invited into a grounding and sharing circle, before closing the evening with warm tea and quiet conversation.

What you won’t find at this dance

This is a phone-free, camera-free, and conversation-free space in Brunswick East, at least on the dance floor.

Attendees are asked to leave their devices in their bags, hold off on verbal chatter, and move mindfully, barefoot (or in soft indoor shoes), in a shared space where consent is key.

There are no expectations around how to move, this is not a dance performance or party.

All forms of movement are welcome, whether you’re still and inward or wild and expressive.

The invitation is simple: come as you are.

So Brunswick East, whether you’re marking a seasonal shift or just seeking a deeper kind of dancefloor experience, this one-night-only solstice celebration offers a rare chance to connect, with breath, rhythm, and something bigger.
