The Waifs' have postponed their Geelong show as singer Donna Simpson is airlifted to hospital after an e-scooter crash in Broome.

The much-anticipated Geelong performance by The Waifs, originally scheduled for November 10th, has been postponed to Friday, March 8th, 2024. The rescheduling is in response to an unfortunate accident involving band member Donna Simpson, who is currently recovering from injuries sustained after the group’s recent show in Broome and has been advised not to fly.

The accident occurred following their concert in Broome, leaving Simpson with four broken ribs, two collapsed lungs, and multiple bruises. In a press release, Simpson commented, “Four broken ribs, two collapsed lungs, and a bunch of bruises later, I have realised E Scooters and I don’t mix.”

She expressed her gratitude, saying, “I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Royal Flying Doctors service, who got me swiftly and safely to Perth, and all of the staff at Broome Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital for looking after me so well.”

Simpson assured fans that she is resting and recovering well and expects to be back in action for Day On The Green in December. She added, “I am sorry to miss everyone at Handpicked this weekend, but I am confident my little sister, Josh, Dave, and Ben will deliver you all a stunning set without me. Not as good as my set without her at Blues Fest, but close!”

For those holding tickets to the Handpicked Festival in Adelaide this Saturday, a special four-piece set featuring Vikki, Josh, Ben, and Dave will take the stage. The Waifs, known for their unique folk-rock sound, have continued to make their mark on the music scene, and fans can still look forward to their upcoming shows in various locations.

The Waifs encourage ticket holders to retain their tickets for the rescheduled March date, which will now serve as the final show of the ‘Up All Night’ 20th Anniversary tour. All current tickets will remain valid for the new date, and seat allocations will be retained.
