British indie-rockers Wet Leg announce intimate Melbourne gig at Howler

Wet Leg

Isle of Wight's band of the moment, Wet Leg, are playing a headline sideshow gig at Howler when they come to Australia for Splendour In The Grass.

“Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?”

The ‘Chaise Longue’ viral hitters are going to play two gigs in Melbourne: one at Margaret Court Arena in support of Yeah Yeah Yeahs that was announced a few weeks ago, and today they’ve confirmed they’ll play a headline gig at Howler in Brunswick. They’ll also play a headline show at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.

Hailing from the Isle of Wight, Wet Leg (the duo of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers) were formed in ‘a moment of drunken clarity’ back in 2019, while perched at the summit of a Ferris wheel.

They’ve since released a string of singles including ‘Chaise Longue’, Wet Dream’, Too Late Now’, Oh No’ and new single Angelica’, the first of which has gained significant viral success, showcasing the band’s quirky lyricism, with influences ranging from Pierre Bachelet, the Ronettes, and Jane Birkin through to Best Coast, The Strokes and the B52s.
