Brisbane’s cult music gameshow Not On Your Rider heads to Melbourne

Words by Staff Writer

Not On Your Rider, the interactive music quiz gameshow, brings its unique blend of trivia and entertainment to Brunswick Ballroom this June.

After selling out massive venues and making appearances at Splendour in the Grass, Brisbane’s cult trivia night-meets-gameshow Not On Your Rider is returning to Melbourne. Host and writer Aimon Clark (The Creases/Isolation Trivia) will lead the festivities alongside special guest panelists captained by Patience Hodgson from The Grates and TV personality Ian Dickson.

Unlike traditional trivia nights, Not On Your Rider combines elements of panel shows with audience participation, creating an interactive experience where attendees can play along and win prizes or simply enjoy the entertainment from their tables.

The event has developed a strong reputation for surprising celebrity guests, with past participants including Robert Irwin, Kate Miller-Heidke, Ben Lee, Trent Dalton, Steven Bradbury, and members of notable Australian bands such as Powderfinger, Ball Park Music, and The Jungle Giants.

Not On Your Rider covers music trivia from all decades and genres, but organisers emphasise that musical knowledge isn’t necessary to enjoy the event. The focus is on creating a fun, engaging atmosphere rather than testing encyclopedic knowledge of music facts.

The format allows attendees to purchase tickets for various table sizes, from pairs up to groups of six, with a social table option available for individuals or smaller groups who wish to join others. This flexible approach makes the event accessible for different group sizes and encourages a communal experience.

Brunswick Ballroom’s kitchen will be open from 6:00pm, serving their regular menu throughout the event for those who wish to dine while enjoying the show.

With its combination of celebrity appearances, interactive gameplay, and relaxed atmosphere, Not On Your Rider offers a fresh alternative to traditional trivia nights, appealing to music enthusiasts and casual fans alike.
