The American R&B singer will be touring Australia in June, his first Australian tour in over 10 years, and is bringing Dwele (Andwele Gardner) with him for five shows in six days.
However McKnight’s popularity isn’t unexpected. He has been nominated for 16 Grammy Awards and has been producing albums since his debut in 1992. In the US, his third album Anytime sold over two million copies, earning him his first Grammy nomination, while his 1999 album Back At One sold even more, topping over three million. Brian McKnight’s work didn’t stop with the 90s. He has since worked with other big names such as Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and even Australia’s Guy Sebastian.
His support act, Dwele, has collaborated with Kanye West (both writing and performing on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) and J Dilla as well as releasing four solo studio albums, his most recent albumW.orld W.ants W.omen debuting at number 3 on the Billboard Indie Chart.
The tour is sure to feature some of Brian McKnight’s newer work with his 10th album Just Me having its delayed released this July.
