Six and Out return to Melbourne with their unique blend of rock and cricket culture
What do you get when five NSW cricketers decide the SCG dressing room isn’t exciting enough? You get Six and Out, and they’re bringing their rock and roll show to Corner Hotel on 28 December. Cricket fans, this one’s for you.
Six and Out is the rock band formed in 1999 by cricketing legends Brett Lee, Shane Lee, Gavin Robertson, Brad McNamara and Richard Chee Quee. Born from a shared passion for music that started during overseas cricket tours, the band gained cult status in the late 1990s Sydney pub scene with their humorous anthem Can’t Bowl, Can’t Throw.

After disbanding in the early 2000s due to cricketing and professional commitments, the band made a triumphant comeback in 2023 after Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese invited them to reunite for a one-off performance. Their return was marked by a sold-out national tour and the release of a rockumentary titled Six and Out: The Second Innings.
The band’s name comes from the backyard cricket rule where hitting a six that loses the ball means you’re automatically out. Brett Lee handles bass guitar and vocals, Shane Lee plays guitar, Gavin Robertson drums, Brad McNamara plays guitar, and Richard Chee Quee fronts as lead vocalist. Their shows feature a mix of original cricket-inspired tracks and rock covers, with surprise guest appearances from famous Australian musicians.
