The tour announce follows on from the release of Muroki’s latest single ‘Love Cocoon’ featuring icon BENEE as well as a quick trip across the Tasman to join LEISURE as a special guest on their AU headline tour.
With his highly anticipated forthcoming EP scheduled to drop in the first half of 2024 and a stack of unreleased tracks up his sleeve, Muroki promises to deliver a killer show for Australian crowds.
He’s also dropped ‘Love Cocoon’ with BENEE
He’s also recently shared his new funky new single ‘Love Cocoon’ featuring BENEE – out now on Olive Records via Universal Music New Zealand.
Speaking on his relationship with BENEE and making this song together, Muroki explains; “All these influences were just saying one thing to me and I thought why not go straight to the source and get BENEE to jump on this track? We sing two sides of a tale about someone utterly besotted with their partner and I love what we got here.”
Fresh off the back of opening for genre-hopping supergroup LEISURE on their AU/NZ tour and having recently been announced on the lineup for both Homegrown and Soundsplash, ‘Love Cocoon’ is the second chapter of Muroki’s new era, building toward the release of a new EP early-2024.
On jumping on the track, BENEE says “Muroki played me Love Cocoon earlier on this year and asked if I wanted to jump on! I was instantly drawn to how smooth everything is about this song and wanted to try to support that in my verse! I also related to these lyrics a lot. And it’s always a pleasure working with Muroki hehe.”
‘Love Cocoon’ ft BENEE follows on from Muroki’s most recent single ‘Middle Ground’, a Matt Corby-esque intimate described by Rolling Stone as “lush and introspective, brought to life by Muroki’s husky and warm vocal tones” and is another taster of whats to come from his forthcoming EP to be released in 2024.
Muroki’s hybrid sound mixes his Raglan background of skating pavements and surfing breaks with inspiration from his Kenyan heritage. His breakout hit Wavy topped the NZ charts and the breezy soul-pop jam Surfin’ became a triple j playlist fave.
