UNCAGED is Australia's newest rock festival, coming to Melbourne's Coburg Velodrome in January 2022.

After a series of fairly cryptic announcements across their social media, UNCAGED Festival has been confirmed by organisers Silverback Touring.

The festival will come to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, kicking off in January 2022 with what the organisers promise will be a “diversely curated line up of hard rock, punk, metal and more.”

While Silverback Touring play host to a huge array of rock acts – think Slayer, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Opeth, Rob Zombie and more – the initial offering will be an all Australian and Kiwi affair.

This isn’t a surprise given there will likely be a substantial period of uncertainty as regulations change around international travel and vaccine passports.

However, currently it’s complete guesswork exactly which acts UNCAGED festival will be able to attract. The festival will be held on a single day at the Coburg Velodrome, which has become a favourite among electronic event organisers in recent years.

Head of Silverback Touring, Danny Bazzi said of the festival, “the time was right to introduce a new summer festival, one which will appeal to a wide cross section of rock fans”.

The first artist announcement is anticipated on Wednesday 22 September.
