Thundercat’s 2017 album Drunk has been “chopped not slopped” and converted to vinyl doused in purple with a new name: Drank.
Mixed by DJ Candlestick OG Ron C of the legendary Houston DJ collective The Chopstars, Drank appeared online last year as an unofficial homage to Thundercat but has since gained his approval and is set to be released as a physical album on Friday March 16.
Thundercat released Drunk, his third album, in February last year and was incredibly well recieved. Across its 23 tracks, the Grammy-winning singer/bassist invited his friends Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Wiz Khalifa, Kamasi Washington and Flying Lotus to join him on his the album.
The album was cited on countless Best of 2017 lists and with Drank, new life has been breathed into the album.
DJ Candlestick says, “‘Drank’ gives you a perfect musical high. It’s also a project that all types of people can vibe to – smooth, chill and entertaining.”
