Chief Conductor of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and regular MSO collaborator, Umberto Clerici returns to Melbourne to conduct a charming evening of classics. The program opens with Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro, composed in 1905 for the newly formed London Symphony Orchestra. MSO Assistant Principal Cello Elina Faskhi takes the solo role in Tchaikovsky’s set of variations that paid tribute to his idol Mozart. The concert concludes with Brahms’ Third Symphony. Filled with beautiful melodies, Brahm’s Third was composed at the height of his powers and has been a hit since its first performance.
