Sharp, seductive, and disarmingly honest, Blondshell owned Max Watt's on a balmy Melbourne night.
Backed by a tightly synced band, Blondshell (project led by Sabrina Teitelbaum) launched into a wide-reaching set pulling heavily from her sophomore album If You Asked for a Picture (2025), before dipping back into fan favourites from Blondshell (2023).

The setlist moved with intention with moments of grit and release broken up by surprises, including a breathy, ’90s-tinged breathy cover of Addison Rae’s Diet Pepsi, and an unexpected guest appearance from home turf legends Folk Bitch Trio who drew delighted cheers from the Melbourne crowd, beaming with pride for their homegrown talent.
Blondshell’s cathartic lyricism doesn’t just invite you in, it takes your hand and drags you through a life you haven’t lived, but feels instantly familiar.
As Sabrina Teitelbaum bares all, she dances between self-reflection and vulnerability, imparting lessons like the cool older sister you never had, the one who disappeared to a far-off city for a few years, came back sharper, and finally told the truth.
Her songs are built on potent hooks and raucous release, lyrics slipping off the tongue like a black lace nightie – intimate, seductive, exposed, and deliberate.
Vocally, she shifts seamlessly between blunt honesty, tongue-in-cheek irony, and evocative storytelling, offering quiet lessons about boundaries, self-preservation, and the futility of trying to save people who won’t save themselves.
After an evening of deeply satisfying guitar riffs and tender lyricism, Blondshell’s encore felt inevitable, a final surge of affection between artist and audience and a clear reminder that Blondshell’s Australian appeal is only growing.
