Label managers will be Jonny O’Hara and Jordan Barczak, who set up the weekly night at Fitzroy’s Rochester Castle. Their contrasting music tastes, which accounts for why the night developed over six years to a buzz night.
Says Barczak, “We were happy enough spinning a few tunes for friends. But to see the club grow, and having opened the Book Club Band Room with bands the caliber of Splashh, Apes and The Love Junkies playing our venue, it’s been amazing to build a multi-level rock n roll club, promoting the bands we love”.
Black Night Crash Records’ first signing is London-based Japanese post-punk band Bo Ningen, who are here for Big Day Out next month.
“I saw Bo Ningen at Fuji Rock and they completely blew me away,” recounts O’Hara. “These guys are absolutely wild and I can’t wait to catch them again when they hit Australia.”
Bo Ningen’s new album Line The Wall is out here on Friday January 17. The Australian Tour Edition includes their entire self titled debut album as a bonus disc, as well as an exclusive Australian CD bonus track, Nichijyou, featuring Savages lead singer Jehnny Beth.
