On Saturday April 15 Black Jesus Experience plus friends and guests will perform at The Night Cat in Fitzroy in a gala benefit event to raise
funds to help one of Melbourne’s great cultural contributors, our own much loved Enushu Taye, in her time of need.
For 16 years Enushu Taye has been the guiding star and essence of Black Jesus Experience, and of The Horn African Cafe. Enushu was struck down with a sudden and severe brain bleed while performing at a well known Melbourne venue. Thanks to the swift and superbly skilled actions of Ambulance Victoria paramedics, and the surgeons and staff at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Enushu’s life was miraculously saved.
After several weeks in the ICU and neurosurgical wards Enushu is starting her long and challenging journey of rehabilitation, approaching it with the vigor, determination, and humour that characterises all that is Enushu.
All performance and production costs are being donated by the artists and the management of The Night Cat. All proceeds from the night will go to help Enushu through the difficult time ahead and to help bring her back to being the irreplaceable part of the community that she is.
