You can stop holding your breath: the BIGSOUND 2018 first round lineup is very, very good. Following the first announcement of speakers only last month, BIGSOUND has unveiled the first round of live acts – thus cementing its reputation as the country’s biggest discovery event for new music.
Brisbane’s FortitudeValley is taken over for 4 nights each year, with BIGSOUND dedicating its lineup to a mixture of key industry figures, artists, and fans from around the world – all centralised around sampling the freshest and best of Australia’s hottest acts, technology, and leaders.
The first round of artists is nothing short of mammoth: The Chats, Cable Ties, Elliott, Asha Jeffries and more sit amidst a long list of Australia’s soon-to-be headliners. Other must-see acts include Eilish Gilligan, Tyne-James Organ, Moaning Lisa, and T$oko. For all you metal-heads, hip-hop hooligans, and folk fanatics; ARTERIES, Kwame, and Georgia Mulligan front a wave of their genres’ up-and-comers.
BIGSOUND will display these acts to labels, publishers, agents, festival bookers and fans, all in hope of winning the Levi’s Music Prize, the $25,000 prize money, and the $5,000 travel money from Stage and Screen. Alumni of the prize-winners include internationally acclaimed Stella Donnelly, garage-rocker Alex Lahey, and indie-rock staple Rolling Coastal Blackout Fever.
