Get ready for a magical night of free games, music, and fun at Fed Square for Big Games Night Out on October 10.
Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) has revealed the full details for Big Games Night Out 2024. Taking place from 3pm until late on Thursday, 10 October, Fed Square will transform into a games-themed wonderland as part of the 10th birthday celebrations of MIGW.
The event promises a spectacular experience, featuring hosts and performances by Montaigne, Tijka, DJ Soju Gang, The Bass in Vader, and Megan McKeough from RRR’s Zero G. Expect games-themed food and drink from Mabu Mabu, Beer Deluxe, and Son In Law’s Blaktasia-inspired fairy floss.

The highlight of the night will be the global premiere of Blaktasia: Invasion of The Murk, the debut game from Naarm-based, Aboriginal-led studio GUCK, set for release in early 2025. This free, mobile game offers an accessible and educational adventure that immerses players in a First Nations fantasy world. As part of the event, Fed Square’s façade will come alive with large-scale projections of the game, offering an exclusive preview of the Blaktasia Universe.
Event highlights include:
- Blaktasia projections: Experience the Blaktasia Universe projected across Fed Square’s iconic façade, with live music from Robert K Champion & The Blaktasia Band, DJ Soju Gang, and a First Nations country-western line-dancing showcase.
- Crossy Road activations: Step into the world of Crossy Road with a life-size jump controller on the Main Stage. Arcade activations of Crossy Road and Crossy Castle will be available at The Atrium Games Zone.
- Cosplay runway and lip sync battle: Cosplayers will take to the stage to showcase their outfits and battle it out in a lip sync contest, hosted by Montaigne and Megan McKeough.
- The Gammin Guild D&D campaign: Join the All-Indigenous cast of The Gammin Guild as they embark on a one-shot D&D campaign at the Koorie Heritage Trust from 5pm to 7pm.
- Just Dance competition: Tijka and the Big Games Night Out dancers will lead the audience through Just Dance heats, with prizes up for grabs.
- The Bass in Vader performance: Enjoy live sets from Melbourne icon The Bass in Vader, featuring rock, video game music, Star Wars tunes, and metal.
- Food and drinks: Treat yourself to koala-inspired fairy floss by Son In Law or enjoy takeaway tuckshop offerings from Mabu Mabu.
