Bête Noire

The Bête Noire four make a Spanish night of jazz at Kew Court House

Bête Noire takes listeners on an Andalusian journey into the world of Spanish folklore and flamenco, incorporating the lyrical poetry of Spain’s most beloved poet, Federico García Lorca.

The four are joined by poet Isidro Martínez García, who brings the words and contexts of Federico García Lorca to life.

Bête Noire is propelled by the energy and passion of flamenco and Cuban-inspired rhythms combined with masterful reworkings of familiar and less familiar jazz compositions.

Formed in 2015 by vocalist Jan Tankard and legendary Australian drummer Graham Morgan, they will be joined on the night by two of Australia’s most experienced and skilful jazz artists, pianist Dave Allardice and bassist Mike Mathews.

“Im looking forward to sharing my love of Spain and Lorca in a musical context and playing in the great community performance space of Kew Court House” Jan Tankard.
