Berlin punks S.U.G.A.R. are heading to Australia for the first time

Words by Staff Writer

Berlin punk group S.U.G.A.R. are heading to Australia for the first time ever this February and March.

With two killer albums already out on renowned European label Alien Snatch Records, they’re bringing on the road a stripped down and ripping live sound.

They’ve played iconic European festivals like Get Lost Fest and Stoned From The Underground, and they’ve shared stages with the likes of Australia’s Stiff Richards, Split System, US punks The Spits and Toody Cole from Dead Moon herself.

Renowned for snarling vocals and satisfying harmonies, they’re backed by a rhythm section that rarely puts the breaks on whilst the guitar plays melodies that’ll stick in your head for weeks on end. They sing about the decline of their ever-changing, strange, beloved city, that monkey that won’t leave you alone, disturbing real life experiences on the U-Bahn, getting chased by the Undertaker and the dystopian reality that this world is slowly slipping into.

S.U.G.A.R. released their debut self-titled album in 2021 on Berlin’s Alien Snatch Records, recorded live in Cologne, the album gained quite some popularity selling out of the first two pressings. They proceeded to record their second album in 2022 in Leipzig. Also recorded live and in two days, this time on tape, their sophomore album II really captures that raw, unpolished, electric feel that takes you back to garage rock roots.

Catch S.U.G.A.R. across Australia this Feb & March, with shows across W.A., VIC, NSW & S.A., and festival appearances at Across The Punt, Nice Day To Go To The Club and Brunswick Music Fesival (Sydney Rd Street Party)!
