Who are we chatting to? BEKDÖ, I sing and write most of the songs. Although for our first live show I’ll be using a launchpad too, it’s very eventful.
What do you reckon people will say you sound like? The other day I was blasting Vera Blue’s latest Vinyl and my mum thought it was me. That was pretty flattering. I used to listen to a lot of Julia Stone and Keith Urban, so I think I picked up some weird mesh of country folk.
What do you love about making music? I love being able to put anything I’ve been through into another form. It helps me process situations and feel like I’m doing something productive with my emotions. It’s also really fun getting to work with some of my best mates likes my producer Hayden.
What do you hate about the music industry? The whole self-promo thing is hard. Sometimes I just want to be able to write and perform songs without feeling like I have to be clever about sharing my activity via social media.
If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why? I’d be way too scared to show her my stuff, but Eva Cassidy is my musical hero. Listening to her renditions of songs taught me the importance of not over-singing, and how powerfully yet sweetly one voice can captivate a room.
If you could assassinate one person or band from popular music, who would it and why? Selena Gomez…I’m sort of in love with Justin.
What can a punter expect from your live show? Phwoah… good question. It’s our first show and I’m not even sure what to expect. The set will be super diverse. Some songs are fun and groovy, others are quite dark and sombre. We’re down to create some memorable moments.
What’ve you got to sell CD-wise? We have zero CD’s but plenty of hoodies. I didn’t quite think through the warm weather thing. I made stickers too.
Tell us about the show. Jess Fairley is supporting and that girl is on fire. I recently saw her headline show and was blown away. I’ve also got my friends Lauren & Mo kicking of the night – and they are reaaaaaaaaaal fun, so get pumped.
