Beans the band release debut single, mixed by Snowy

Beans the Band

Grey Whistle Test’s Maximillian Stanley ventures into his first solo work, with help from The Ocean Party’s Liam Halliwell.

‘Delone’ is the debut single from Stanley’s brand new musical project ‘Beans the band’.

The song was written and recorded DIY in 2016 and is the first track ever written by project creator Maximilian Stanley (Grey Whistle Test).

‘Delone’ explores the idea of our innate loneliness while dreaming, despite how expansive and connective our dreams may seem. It is a meditation on how complex our dreams are and the functions they have in telling us how we are really feeling.

The largely acoustic track was mixed and mastered by the incredibly prolific and talented Melbourne musician Snowy, who has credits mixing work for The Ocean Party, Jade Imagine and his recent project Snowy Band.

The release takes many sonic references from the bands’ inspirations, including the melodies of early Coldplay records, the god tones of Kings of Convenience’s dual guitar structures, and the dreamy psychedelic landscapes of Ugandan musician Geoffrey Oryemba.

Alongside the projects debut single is the experimental music video, shot by Stanley over a number of different camping trips over the years.

It features landscapes overlaid with jarring GIFs and pop culture references to create something that sits between a dreamscape and a Godfrey Reggio film.

The track is set to be released Sept 23rd and will be the first single from upcoming EP ‘Plural Views’, a collection of songs written over the past 5 years exploring the multiple perspectives that make up any singular version of a ‘true’ interpretation of an event.
