The Builders Arms Hotel is paying tribute to the magic of meat.
The Fitzroy pub is in the throes of its beloved annual Sausage Festival. For ten years now, the Builders Arms Hotel has held a dedicated celebration of the snag and there’s still time to get yourself a feed.
From June 23 to July 2, the pub’s menu will feature sausage-themed delights inspired by the wide variety of bangers across the world.

And don’t expect your typical BBQ quality either – all of the offerings on the menu are made in-house or by the team at Meatsmith. The Melbourne-based butcher shop is dedicated to quality, using only sustainable and ethical meats including grass-fed beef, rare breed pork and free-range chicken.
On the menu, find dishes ranging from classic to contemporary. To start, slurp down some oysters alongside grilled Merguez sausages with a citrus mignonette.
For mains, sample an assortment of good with their “mother of all sausage preparations” – the Choucroute Garnie.It features smoked frankfurter, Lyonnaise sausage, pork belly and accompaniments. They’ve also got bangers and mash and a stuffed pigs’ trotter sausage with braised lentils.
If you consider yourself quite the snag connoisseur, try your hand at the sausage trivia night happening on June 28. Starting at 7pm, host Cam Smith from Triple J’s Eat It food show will grill you with questions on all of the ins and outs of the sizzling snack.
