BANG is closing after 12 years

The year is 2006, and a little idea called BANG was born. In the 12 years that followed, it turned into somewhat of a Melbourne institution. Now after 600 events, 2,000 bands, millions of drinks, and countless hours of punters spent talking shit in the smokers — BANG is calling it a day. Sleep easy, old friend.

But, lucky for you — there’s still ten weeks to walk down memory lane and say your final farewell. After all, they’re planning on going out with an *ahem* bang.

The team at BANG have released a statement. And ooft, it hits right in the feels.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank ALL the incredible venue staff, the promoters, bands, DJs, hosts, door staff, photographers, security guards and all you incredible people for making BANG the longest running and best punk/alt club in Australia. You’ve been our friends and our family for over a decade. This place was for the misfits, for those who didn’t fit in, it gave us all a home and a place to belong.”

All is not lost though, with the team planning some exciting events that are yet to be revealed. But for now, it’s time for one last goodbye. The next ten weeks will be filled with surprise DJs, guests, and reunions to take it out right. The beers will be cold, the music will be loud. You know what to do.

Goodnight, sweet prince.
