If you’re looking to buy new music or merch, these three dates are a good time to do it.
Last month, Bandcamp showed support for artists faced with a loss of income due to forced gig and tour cancellations by waiving their revenue share so that every cent from sales went directly into artists’ pockets. Now, the platform has announced three more fee-free days, set to take place on May 1, June 5 and July 3.
The last fee-free date saw fans spend a whopping $4.3 million on music and merch, which is 15 times more than Bandcamp’s typical Friday intake. And the best part? Bandcamp also ensures your money lands in artists’ pockets within 24-48 hours of making your purchase, meaning your dollars will reach musicians when they need it most.
Across the first Friday of each month, Bandcamp will waive their revenue share on all sales from midnight to midnight (Pacific Daylight Time), so you’ll have plenty of time to splash some cash and support your favourite music acts.
“Musicians will continue to feel the effects of lost touring income for many months to come, so we’re also sharing some ideas below on how fans can support the artists they love and how artists can give fans new, creative ways to provide support,” said Bandcamp Co-Founder and CEO, Ethan Diamond.
“It may sound simple, but the best way to help artists is with your direct financial support, and we hope you’ll join us through the coming months as we work to support artists in this challenging time,” he added.
