The Retreat Hotel are hosting a free, all-day 'Comeback Special' to celebrate the pub’s return featuring a stellar Melbourne live music lineup.

On Saturday November 6, Brunswick’s The Retreat Hotel is hosting their huge (at least in spirit) ‘Comeback Special’, a free event from 2pm til late with bands and DJs across the venue all day and night.

The grand reopening happens right on the venue’s usual birthday weekend, but this time around, the party isn’t about them – it’s a chance to welcome back all their “amazing supporters who have stuck by us over the past year.”

What you need to know

  • The Retreat Hotel is having a huge opening bash featuring great Melbourne acts
  • It’s free and from 2pm til late on November 6
  • The Retreat will be running a “rotation system” in the bandroom due to Covid-19 restrictions

Stay up to date with what’s happening in Melbourne here.

Bananagun, Snowy Band, Girlatones, Elsie Lange, Quality Used Cars, Delivery, Winter McQuinn and the Garden Gnomes with Flightless DJs + Erik the Jugoslav are all on the lineup, plus there’s more to be announced.

The show will be completely free and spread across the beer garden and bandroom, with a bunch of northside’s favourite local acts and DJs keeping the celebrations going.

In line with the current Covid-19 restrictions, the venue will be running at a lower capacity inside and in the beer garden. With this restricted capacity, to ensure everyone get’s a chance to join the fun, the Retreat will be running a “rotation system” in the bandroom – which means once you’ve finished watching an act, you’ll be asked to head back out to the beer garden and make way for someone else.

“We understand it’s not perfect, but it’s our way of making sure everyone get’s a chance to celebrate with us,” the organisers say.

“Especially while music venues like us are still somewhat missing from the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, we are doing our bit to help bring back the music.”
