What is it? The Australian Guild of Music Education offers an interesting variety of syllabi designed to encourage and foster individual needs. Video examinations are an option to help students in distance education or who can’t make the standard exam times. The AGME is a Registered Training Organisation with Nationally Recognised Code No. 3589 delivering training in all states and territories of Australia by distance education techniques.

How long has it been operating? The AGME was founded in 1969 and has been a leading education and examining body in Australia for over 45 years.

What do you offer? The AGME offers Public Examinations for music and speech/drama students from introductory to advanced, as well as Certificate II to III for music industry and Advanced Diploma for professional musicians, music teachers and degree preparation. There is also a Bachelor of Music for professional musicians and music teachers.

What are some exams students can undergo? Musicians can undertake a performance stream focussing on ensembles and a traditional stream that concentrates on the individual who would like to study all phases of music including classical, jazz and modern. There’s also speech and drama, oral communication, spoken language development and more.
