Sunday January 30th will be remembered as the day when $515, 164.80 was raised by cinema operators and distributors around Australia to contribute to the flood relief appeal.

All of the major cinema circuits and most independent cinemas took the time to participate in this initiative, donating $2 from every ticket sold for every movie session that day.

What could be better than going to the movies and helping our fellow Australians at the same time! Cinemagoers supported this initiative by heading to the cinemas to help the thousands of Aussies whose lives have been devastated by the floods.

80% of the funds raised have been donated to the Queensland Premiere’s Disaster Relief Appeal and 20% to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.

Representatives from NACO, the MPDAA, ICAA and AIDA have said how proud they are to have been a part of this initiative and have thanked the participating cinemas and cinemagoers for their support.

The funds raised from this initiative will be crucial to provide support and assistance to those who have not only lost their homes and businesses, but in some unfortunate cases, their friends and family.
