The Australian Council for the Arts have announced a $6.1 million dollar investment in their latest round of grants. The funding will support 221 projects ranging from dance, music, theatre, literature, visual arts, cultural development and emerging experimental arts.
One of the highlights of the latest round, is a grant for an experimental lab allowing Australian artists to explore emerging techniques in virtual reality. We’ll be cruising into fantasy worlds, and time trippin’ to times gone by in no time, yeah? Let’s hope so.Another grant included funding intended to help young people in Far North QLD to create contemporary art, in collaboration with Indigenous Elders and emerging artists.
With 20% of the grants going to first time applicants the grants are set to propel many emerging artists to acheive their dream and vision. Keep your eyes peeled. We’re sure excited to see what is to come.
