As predicted, former Beat cover star Gotye has raked in the lion’s share of nods, as has MC Drapht (also a Beat cover star – notice a trend?) and folk collective Boy & Bear – all scoring seven nominations a piece.
Gotye’s swag of nominations is all the more impressive considering his stellar latest full-length Making MIrrors missed the cut-off date for eligibility. We’re guessing it will probably make a fair showing at the 2012 awards.
Records up for album of the year include Moonfire by Boy & Bear, Zonoscope by Cut Copy, Ghosts Of The Past by Eskimo Joe, Rrakala by Gurrumul, and Grinderman 2 by Grinderman.
