Anne Edmonds’ Why Is My Bag All Wet?: An unhinged and unfiltered take on motherhood

Comedy Festival shows

Anne Edmonds returns with a bang, unleashing an hour of relatable and hilarious stand-up in her signature style.

After taking some time off the comedy touring circuit to have her first child, Anne is back with a bang with her Why Is My Bag All Wet?, discussing the intricacies of pregnancy and motherhood with her signature brand of unhinged humour and often macabre self-depreciation.

Keep up with Melbourne’s latest comedy news, reviews and interviews here.

As soon as Anne danced out onto the stage, she exuded a charismatic and charming presence that immediately drew the audience in. Her relatability is infectious and her willingness to be completely unhinged makes her all the more endearing. It’s a delicate balancing act that Anne pulls off flawlessly, making for a riotous hour of stand-up that had the audience in stitches.

She’s down to earth all the while being completely unhinged – it’s a delicate balancing act but she pulls it off flawlessly. From observational jokes about how inconvenient it is to spill water in your bag, to hilarious personal stories including but not limited to shitting her pants in a Coles Local, she emits relatability without slipping too far into the pits of self-depreciation.

I first became enamoured by Anne Edmonds when I saw her as Helen Bidou on Get Krack’n! (the Atomic Fresh shopper’s korner segment lives rent-free in my brain), and it’s clear to see how much of Helen’s wild energy has found its way into Anne’s performance. She was able to improvise some truly great parts of her show, call out latecomers and people returning from the toilet, and even shut down a Coles Local stan in the audience with ease, all while keeping the us engaged and entertained. Her ability to command the room is truly incredible, and it’s no wonder she’s become such a beloved comedian.

Welcome back to the stage, Anne. We’ve missed ya.
