Phosphorescent’s return comes on the heels of his 2024 release Revelator, an album praised for its honest exploration of self-doubt, existential angst, and the beauty of life’s quieter moments.
Known for his introspective songwriting and emotive delivery, Houck has captivated listeners since his debut in 2003. Songs like Song for Zula and Wolves have cemented his place as one of America’s finest contemporary songwriters.
Muchacho, his 2013 breakthrough, remains a fan favourite, and with Revelator, Houck continues to evolve, mixing melancholy with hope and capturing the complexities of life with elegance and gravity.
Phosphorescent’s Australian dates will be intimate affairs, kicking off at Brisbane’s Triffid on January 15, followed by Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on January 16 and Sydney’s Factory Theatre on January 17. This marks his first visit to the country in over 11 years, making the tour even more highly anticipated.
Supporting Phosphorescent on this special run is Okkervil River, with frontman Will Sheff performing solo renditions of songs from the band’s vast discography.
Okkervil River, known for its rich storytelling and lush arrangements, has garnered critical acclaim from major outlets like Rolling Stone and NPR, while Sheff’s songwriting has earned the admiration of figures like Barack Obama and the late Lou Reed.
